Gandhidham Development Authority schemes
The Gandhidham Development Authority (GDA), under the Government of Gujarat, is actively involved in improving urban infrastructure and promoting affordable housing. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) [PMAY-U], Gandhidham has been included in the list of approved towns where housing projects are being implemented for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
According to official PMAY-U sanction documents, Gandhidham received approval for:
• 160 EWS houses under the Building or Buying (BLC) component, and
• 44 additional EWS houses under the Gandhidham Nagar Palika jurisdiction (Phase-II).
These houses are part of Gujarat’s state-wide initiative to provide safe, affordable homes to urban families from low-income categories. The projects are being executed in collaboration with local authorities and the Urban Development & Urban Housing Department of Gujarat.
In addition to housing construction, the GDA has introduced a Land Tenure Conversion Policy that allows residents to convert leasehold land into freehold property. This initiative promotes secure land ownership and encourages more individuals to invest in housing and infrastructure development within Gandhidham.
Key Highlights:
• Implementation of PMAY-U housing projects for EWS beneficiaries.
• 204 houses sanctioned (160 under GDA, 44 under Nagar Palika).
• Launch of the Land Tenure Conversion Scheme for leasehold-to-freehold conversion.
• Focus on affordable housing and secure land ownership.
