The North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has recently introduced the Town Planning Scheme for Downtown Mapusa (Phase I) – 2024, a major urban development project aimed at transforming the growing town of Mapusa into a well-planned, modern, and sustainable urban center. This initiative focuses on reorganizing unplanned land areas, developing residential and commercial plots, and creating efficient infrastructure to improve the quality of life for residents.
The project covers nearly 11 lakh square meters of land in and around the Mapusa region. It follows the land pooling and reconstitution model, where landowners voluntarily contribute their land for development and receive a portion of developed plots after infrastructure is created.
