Recent Housing Scheme: MHADA 2025 Housing Lottery Scheme
The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has recently launched the 2025 Housing Lottery Scheme, a large-scale initiative to provide affordable housing across Maharashtra. Under this scheme, MHADA has offered 5,354 affordable homes and 77 residential plots across various cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Thane, and Nagpur, to cater to the housing needs of different income groups.
The initiative aligns with MHADA’s broader mission to generate over 7 lakh homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) within the next five years. The scheme focuses on ensuring affordability and accessibility, with special allotments for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low-Income Group (LIG), and Middle-Income Group (MIG) categories.
Additionally, MHADA has introduced price revisions for more than 6,200 flats in Thane under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), making homes more accessible for EWS beneficiaries. The authority has also undertaken major redevelopment projects, such as the Motilal Nagar Redevelopment Project in Goregaon (West), Mumbai, in collaboration with private partners to create modern, sustainable housing for thousands of families.
