Bihar State Housing Board(BSHB)
Bihar State Housing Board (BSHB) is a statuory authority as mandated by the government of Bihar for the developmental aspects of housing schemes and infrastructural facilities. The goal of the board is to provide quality housing accommodations to all socioeconomic classes at affordable prices. To meet this requirement, there's a system of cross-subsidization in place, charging higher interest rates from higher income groups to support the subsidies for lower income groups.
This process also incorporates outright market loans such that we can construct, develop, and sell properties to targeted groups under BSHB (Residential Properties Management and Disposal) Act 1983. Currently, poverty ratio in Bihar stands at 55.3%. This means that weaker sections in Bihar live in slums or slum-like conditions with limited basic amenities. With high urbanization in Bihar, employment growth rate has increased by 1.66% and has led to migration into major cities as people seek jobs.
The demand for affordable housing continues to increase while supply is constant. BSHB has 2958.85 acres of land in almost 7 divisions and 10 district level towns in all, through which it has constructed 11,637 homes for various income classes. It has also undertaken land development on 7015 plots.
