Most Recent Housing Scheme: Greater Aligarh Housing Scheme
The Greater Aligarh Housing Scheme is the latest and most ambitious project launched by the Aligarh Development Authority (ADA). Located along Khair Road near Transport Nagar, this modern township covers around 335 hectares across seven villages — Rustampur Akhan, Ahmadabad, Jatanpur Chikawati, Atalpur, Musepur Keeb Jirauli, and Lhausra Visawan.
The scheme aims to provide affordable and planned housing integrated with urban infrastructure. It includes 45-metre-wide main roads, 12-metre internal roads, green spaces, sports facilities, and commercial areas. With a development budget of nearly Rs. 700 crore, the project reflects ADA’s focus on creating a well-connected, sustainable township that caters to all income groups.
About Aligarh Development Authority (ADA)
The Aligarh Development Authority (ADA) was established in 1974 under the U.P. Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973. It functions as a statutory body responsible for the planned and systematic development of Aligarh city and its surrounding regions.
ADA’s primary roles include urban planning, housing development, infrastructure creation, and implementation of government housing and land-use policies. The authority ensures that the city grows in an organized manner with proper civic amenities and environmental balance.

Past Housing Schemes by ADA
1. Swarn Jayanti Nagar Extension Scheme – Initially launched in 2004, this project aimed to provide residential plots to citizens. Recently, ADA revived it by introducing flat construction for old allottees who faced delays due to legal issues.
2. Ozone City Project (Joint Venture) – A residential development emphasizing eco-friendly living and modern facilities.
3. ADA Colony at Ramghat Road – A completed scheme providing affordable plots and flats with basic infrastructure.
These initiatives showcase ADA’s long-term commitment to developing well-planned and liveable neighbourhoods in Aligarh.
Conclusion
The Aligarh Development Authority continues to play a key role in shaping the city’s urban landscape. With the launch of the Greater Aligarh Housing Scheme, ADA moves a step closer to achieving its mission of providing planned, affordable, and sustainable housing. Through its continuous efforts, Aligarh is emerging as a promising urban destination in Uttar Pradesh, balancing development with liveability.
