The Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) recently launched one of its most significant housing initiatives aimed at the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under its affordable housing mission.
A public lottery was organized at Baghajatin Park, Siliguri, to distribute 422 newly built flats to eligible beneficiaries. These flats are located in the Kawakhali area and are part of SJDA’s ongoing effort to provide safe, affordable, and well-planned housing to low-income families in the Siliguri–Jalpaiguri planning region.
The allocation of flats was distributed across different areas under SJDA’s jurisdiction:
• 213 flats for Siliguri Municipal Corporation area
• 48 flats for Matigara
• 41 flats for Phansidewa
• 17 flats for Naxalbari
• 12 flats for Kharibari
• 24 flats for Jalpaiguri Sadar & Municipality area
• 58 flats for Rajganj
The lottery received 1,848 applications, of which 1,828 were approved, covering beneficiaries from SC, ST, OBC, women, minorities, transgender, and senior citizen categories.
This initiative reflects SJDA’s strong focus on social inclusion and equitable access to housing.

The Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) was established on 1st April 1980 under the West Bengal Town and Country (Planning and Development) Act.
It is the statutory urban development authority responsible for the planning, regulation, and development of the Siliguri–Jalpaiguri Planning Area (SJPA).

• Residential Plot Development in Dabgram and Jalpaiguri: Allocation of land for residential and mixed-use purposes.
