In February 2024, the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) announced an Affordable Rental Housing Project in Kochi. The plan includes the construction of 90 modern residential units (1BHK and 2BHK) spread across six prime GCDA-owned locations Kadavanthra, Panampilly Nagar, Kathrikadavu, and Kakkanad. The project aims to provide affordable rental homes for middle-income families, with a total investment of Rs. 7 crore.
In addition, in January 2025, GCDA unveiled its vision for a Twin Tower Residential-Cum-Commercial Complex in Kadavanthra under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This project is designed to offer comfortable housing for middle-income buyers while integrating commercial spaces to encourage mixed-use development.
